About The Charlie Daniels Band

Charlie Daniels accomplished something few other musicians did: he made the leap from session musician to superstar. The song that made him famous was "The Devil Went Down to Georgia," a roaring country-disco fusion that became an international smash. Daniels formed his own band after working for many years in Nashville, and the early Charlie Daniels Band albums Fire on the Mountain and Nightrider enjoyed platinum sales in the early '70s. By the end of the decade, they had refashioned their sound to include more down-home country influences, and "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" became a number one hit in 1979, even crossing over into the pop charts. The band remained a popular concert attraction for many years.
