About The Blaze

French electronic duo The Blaze are Guillaume and Jonathan Alric, cousins who are known as much for their artfully crafted music videos as for their dub- and house-influenced music.

• The cousins began making music as The Blaze while Jonathan was attending film school in Brussels, and he asked for Guillaume’s help soundtracking a music video he was making for a class assignment. The combination of music and visuals became a signature for the duo.
• The Blaze released their first video, “Virile,” in 2016. The clip won Best Alternative Video—International at the UK Music Video Awards the same year.
• “Virile” was one of six songs on their first EP, 2017’s Territory. The video for the title track won the Film Craft Grand Prix at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity that year, and Best Director at the Berlin Music Video Awards.
• The duo describes their 2018 full-length debut, 2018’s Dancehall, as a tribute to the 1940s dance hall scene that emerged “from a desire to simply come together and party.”
