This Swiss act is part of a European reggae network of artists who strive to re-create roots reggae sounds of the 1970s & '80s, often collaborating with stars from that era. They are the studio band for their own 2015-formed Fruits Records label and began using the 18th Parallel name in 2018. Their EP from that year, Magnetic Buzz Rhythm, featured the legendary Robbie Shakespeare on bass, as well as likeminded regular collaborator Roberto Sanchez. Under his Lone Ark guise, the Spaniard jointly released Showcase, Vol. 1 with the 18th Parallel in 2021. Singles followed later that year with Linval Thompson and Mike Brooks, and the group issued Cosmic Drop Riddim in 2022 -- an EP eight years in the making -- with a vocal line recorded by the late Lee "Scratch" Perry in 2019.
