About Tesla
Tesla is a hard rock band from Sacramento, California, known for their straight-forward, working-class style. ∙ Originally called City Kidd, they changed their name to Tesla while recording 1986’s Mechanical Resonance, adding references to inventor (and inspiration) Nikola Tesla to song titles and lyrics. ∙ The Great Radio Controversy, their 1989 sophomore album, earned double Platinum-certification and produced their first Gold hit, “Love Song.” ∙ Their live cover of “Signs,” from 1990’s Five Man Acoustical Jam, was a surprise Top 10 Billboard hit from a record released on a whim and recorded during touring downtime. ∙ The band performed a sold-out show at the ARCO Arena in their hometown of Sacramento after a six-year break, and they later released a double album documenting the reunion tour, Replugged Live.
