About Sue Ray

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. Watching my Dad play in his band. I thought he wrote The Gambler because he did such a good version of it. Growing up in a musical family definitely helped shape my interest and introduction to a career in music. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Cowboy Junkies, Best of Cowboy Junkies Merle Haggard, The Essential Merle Haggard: The Epic Years Tori Amos, Little Earthquakes (Deluxe Edition) There is something sentimental and magical about The Cowboy Junkies style of writing & performing. Tori Amos's lyrics and masterful producing techniques always inspired me. Merle Haggard is one of my favourite singers I grew up listening to. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “All the Lonely Ones” I wrote this song during covid, when it was uncertain when musicians would ever be able to perform again. It was a dedication to all songwriters who feel the urge to go out into the world and share their music. It's very personal and special to me. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Performing at Sydney Opera House with Uncle Kutcha Edwards was one of the most impactful and inspiring performances of my career. To get to share the stage with such an iconic and generous performer, and person, was such a joy and an honour. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? To perform at the Ryman Auditorium. It is one favourite venues in the world and so iconic. It would definitely be something that I'd like to tick off my bucket list.
