About Sticks

Affiliated with the groups Opgezwolle and FakkelBrigade, Sticks, also known as Sticky Steez, is a Dutch rapper who made his solo album debut in 2004 and rose to Top Ten success soon afterward. Born Junte Uiterwijk and hailing from Zwolle, The Netherlands, he initially made a name for himself as a member of the trio Opgezwolle, also comprised of rapper Phreako Rico and DJ/producer Delic (aka Dippy Delic). In association with the venerable Dutch rap label Top Notch, Opgezwolle made their full-length album debut with Spuugdingen op de Mic (2001), followed by Vloeistof (2003) and Eigen Wereld (2006), the latter a Top Five hit on the Dutch albums chart. Meanwhile, Sticks also participated on the album Opgeduveld (2002), a self-titled supergroup effort comprised of Opgezwolle plus rappers Duvel, Supahdupah, and Rein de Vos. As a solo artist, Sticks made his full-length album debut with Microphone Colossus (2004), a collaboration with producer Kubus. His second album, Fakkelteit (2007), a collaboration with Delic, was released in the wake of Opgezwolle's smash hit success with Eigen Wereld and proved similarly successful, reaching the Top Ten of the Dutch albums chart. With the splintering of Opgezwolle in 2007, Sticks proceeded to form another group, FakkelBrigade, comprised of himself plus rappers Phreako Rico, Typhoon, James, and producer A.R.T. FakkelBrigade's debut album, Colucci Era (2009), was another Top Ten success for Sticks, as was his third solo album, Alledaagse Waanzin (2010), this one a collaboration with A.R.T. ~ Jason Birchmeier
