About Stephen Mougin

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. I remember sitting in my parents house, watching my dad learn some chords on guitar, and desperately wanting to figure out how to make those sounds. I became obsessed with the guitar and bluegrass music through local jams and fair shows. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Alison Krauss & Union Station, So Long So Wrong Earl Scruggs, Lester Flatt, The Foggy Mountain Boys, 20th Century Masters: The Millennium Collection: Best Of Flatt & Scruggs The Del McCoury Band, The Cold Hard Facts Classic bluegrass, current sounds of traditional bluegrass, and modern bluegrass. Can't go wrong with any of these. I remember driving to college with the windows down listening to Del, and the Krauss album is the reason I became an engineer! Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “The Song That I Call Home (with Sam Bush, Ned Luberecki, Chris Brown, Todd Parks & Jana Mougin)” When I wrote this song with Erin McDermott, we were chatting about how each of us felt MOST comfortable while onstage playing music, that the rest of the world was the uncomfortable part. I love the way the tune came out in the studio. It feels RIGHT
