About Soulephix

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. When I was seven, my step-dad gave me my first record player and a huge stack of 45's. It was the '70's and Player's "Baby Come Back", "Rubberband Man" by The Spinners and John Denver's "Thank God I'm a Country Boy" were among them. Great stuff! What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Buena Vista Social Club, Buena Vista Social Club Melody Gardot, The Essential Melody Gardot Pink Martini, Hang on Little Tomato As far as Buena Vista Social Club goes, that's my I'm stranded on an island forever with 1 CD CD. It connects me to the most comforting, masculine, paternal energy inside. Melody's music is so authentic and smooth. China Forbes lives my dream life! Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Golden Moment” "Golden Moment" is special because it was the first time I was doing everything to my full ability in the recording studio. I wrote the song. I sang on the track, played guitar and co-produced it. It was a great moment for me personally as an artist. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? In the early days of SoulePhix, Curtis Edwards and I would often play for the neighbors. We decided to go to a nearby nursing home. Some were too sick to come out. We played by the bed of a dying woman, who wept as I sang. I've never forgotten her. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? Yes! I still dream of performing at the Tokyo Jazz Festival, Montreal Jazz Festival and/or the Newport Jazz Festival. Those are my big three. Oh...and filling in for China Forbes or Storm Large if they get sick or something. Ahhh! That's the dream!
