About Sonny Landreth

Hailing from Cantor, Mississippi, blues guitar stylist Sonny Landreth has distinguished himself from the general run of blues virtuosos with his distinctive slide technique that allows him to solo and play chords at the same time. His unique talent made him an in-demand session player. After cutting some impressive sides with Cajun accordion legend Clifton Chenier in the late '70s, Landreth released a series of solo albums, including 1981's Blues Attack and 1985's Way Down in Louisiana, which won him additional acclaim from the blues community, while 1995's South of I-10 garnerred him attention from rock music audiences as well. He continues to record and tour steadily in the 21st century, and is globally regarded as one of the great practitioners of Louisana music.
