Saul Hudson, known professionally as Slash, is a British-American songwriter, producer, and performer best known as lead guitarist for the hard rock band Guns N’ Roses. ∙ While still with GN’R, he formed the supergroup side-project Slash’s Snakepit, whose 1995 debut album, It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere, sold more than a million copies worldwide. ∙ In 2002, Slash joined the supergroup Velvet Revolver, whose single “Slither” won the 2005 Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock Performance. ∙ Rolling Stone included him among their 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time, and TIME ranked him No. 2 on their list of the 10 Greatest Electric-Guitar Players—behind Jimi Hendrix. ∙ Slash, his chart-topping 2010 solo debut, featured an all-star cast of musicians, including Iggy Pop, Fergie, Lemmy, Ozzy Osbourne, Alice Cooper, and Dave Grohl. ∙ Along with his bandmates in the classic lineup of Guns N’ Roses, he was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2012. ∙ His 2014 solo album, World on Fire, spent half a year on Billboard’s Hard Rock Albums chart, peaking at No. 1.
