About Simon Johnson

Simon Johnson is a British organist. His first professional position was as head chorister of the Peterborough Cathedral Choir. He then received organ scholarships at Rochester, Norwich, and St. Paul's Cathedral, London, and afterwards became the director of music at All Saints' Church, Northampton. He then became the assistant master of music and the director of the St. Alban's Girls' Choir, which eventually led to his appointment in 2008 to St. Paul's Cathedral in London. He has served as the organist and assistant director of music there, and in this capacity he has accompanied the cathedral's choir and instrumental consort. In addition to his performances at important national services, such as the National Service of Thanksgiving for the diamond jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II and the funeral of Margaret Thatcher, Johnson has performed as a recitalist in Europe and the United States. He has also performed in concerts with major orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the London Mozart Players, the City of London Sinfonia, the London Baroque, and the Cardinall's Musick.
