A dynamic blues-rock power trio with a big, swirling sound and strong chemistry, Shaw Davis & the Black Ties established themselves in the American blues community as an explosive live act, touring hard behind their eponymous 2017 debut and its follow-up, Tales from the West. A native of Pompano Beach, Florida, Shaw Davis' fiery guitar work is rooted in the styles of players like Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Buddy Guy. He formed the band in 2016 with his longtime friend Bobby Van Stone on drums and Patrick Stevenson on bass. They produced a big sound for a three-piece and quickly became a regional favorite, releasing their first album in 2017. They found more widespread exposure through airplay on blues radio and began touring nationally. A three-track EP, Alive from Legacy, showcased their growing prowess as a live band and they represented South Florida at Memphis' International Blues Challenge. Their second full-length, Tales from the West, also appeared in 2018 and featured a heavier rock-driven sound with hints of psychedelia. ~ Timothy Monger
