About Shannon Curtis

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. I got a Walkman and a-ha's debut cassette for my 11th birthday in 1985, the same year that Take On Me — track one on the album — came out. A week later, on the bus to camp, I pressed play and drifted off into my own little world for the entire trip. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Christine and the Queens, La Vita Nuova Sarah McLachlan, Mirrorball The National, High Violet Bonus Track Version All of these artists made albums that influenced me in big ways. Exciting sounds, emotional production, substantial and meaningful lyrics — all things I strive for in making my own music. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Good to Me” This song was written in a time when the world felt out of control — as it does, still — and I needed something to remind me how to stay in touch with my own peace and power in the midst of it, so that I can effectively show up for myself and others. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Can a moment be 10 years? Because the decade that my husband and I spent touring the US performing exclusively house concerts in people's backyards and living rooms was one of the most special and meaningful ways I've shared music with other humans. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I don't believe in bucket lists. I'm always looking for the next right thing at which to direct my energy and my attention, and that can't be planned out in advance, or with a 5-year plan. The universe hasn't led me down a wrong path yet.
