About Sepultura

From their humble beginnings, Sepultura became the most successful Brazilian metal band in history. Over a ten-year period, the group grew from strength to strength, transforming themselves from a primitive death metal ensemble into one of the leading creative trendsetters of the international aggressive music scene. Their reputation was cemented in 1993 with the classic Chaos A.D., rife with exploration of old-school heavy metal and groove metal. After 1996's Roots, guitarist and vocalist Max Cavalera left, although the band found their groove again with American singer Derrick Greene. And when Max's brother, drummer Igor Cavalera, left the group to reunite with his brother in the Cavalera Conspiracy, Sepultura again stabilized, proven by late-period highlights Machine Messiah and Quadra.
