About Sayuri

Sayuri, who also goes by “Sanketsu-girl” Sayuri, is a J-pop singer-songwriter whose music has been featured as themes for several anime TV series and films. ∙ As a teenager, Sayuri dropped out of high school to form the acoustic duo LONGTAL, who busked on street corners and played in coffee shops. ∙ At age 16, she was awarded the Grand Prix at 2012’s Yamaha Music Revolution—Japan’s largest music competition—which prompted her to explore a solo career. ∙ “Mikazuki,” her 2015 debut single, was a Top 20 hit in Japan and was later used for the closing credits to the anime TV series Rampo Kitan: Game of Laplace. ∙ Sayuri collaborated with the Japanese rock band My First Story on “Remei,” which was used as the opening theme to the second season of the anime series Golden Kamuy. ∙ Me—Sayuri’s intimate 2020 album featuring only her voice and guitar—was a Top 5 hit on both Japan’s Oricon and Billboard charts.
