About Sarah Popejoy
In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. I entered a vocalist competition at a dance hall in Tulsa. Some contestants were singing covers and the dance floor was empty. I started playing guitar, singing a ballad I wrote and a couple started dancing. From there I was hooked. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Aimee Mann, The Forgotten Arm Mary Chapin Carpenter, Stones in the Road Shawn Colvin, A Few Small Repairs Stones in the Road, the writing by Mary Chapin is some of the best storytelling around. A Few Small Repairs showcases Shawn's unique writing style (Sunny Came Home). The Forgotten Arm, my favorite Aimee Mann album, is a killer concept album. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Welcome to My America” This song I wrote right after the shooting at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma; the hospital where I was born. It's a commentary on how our society has become complacent with gun violence happening in our everyday spaces.
