About Rodney Alan Greenblat
In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. I was around 10 years old when I heard Beatles White Album and remember being baffled and ecstatic with this wild and undefinable music. “Revolution Number 9” is an explosive collage of sound that I didn’t understand but I listened over and over. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Kraftwerk, Autobahn (Remastered) Matmos, Supreme Balloon Yes, Close to the Edge Each of these albums represents a shift in my music awareness. Yes - in my high school days, Kraftwerk while I was in art school, and Matmos as I searched for connections to my own developing musical style. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Makeshift Fruit Stand” “Makeshift Fruit Stand” from 2 Just B (2021) is a great introduction to my music and features my fun IDM sparsely populated synthesizer sounds that gradually gather together to form a pattern. The titles are the only clue to the meaning. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? In May of 2024 I was able to open for Matmos and Negativland at The Greenville Drive-In in Greenville NY. It was a great night of experimental music and so much fun to share my sounds with two bands that I have enjoyed over many years. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I love to play my music in small clubs that appreciate experimental music. An audience of around 30 people is enough, and I’d love find gigs like that in the following cities: San Francisco, LA, London, Paris, Montreal.
