Richard Lloyd

About Richard Lloyd

Richard Lloyd knocked the world out in the 1970s with his transcendent guitar technique in the band Television, and when the band dissolved in ’79, he released a handful of albums that further cemented his reputation as a brilliant instrumentalist and writer. Drug problems slowed down his productivity for a while, but by the mid-‘80s Lloyd was clean and sober. His elegiac playing is all over Matthew Sweet’s early-’90s work; he has also collaborated with John Doe, Chris Butler, and others; and the members of Television still occasionally reunite for shows and recordings. The ‘00s saw him learning and performing the works of Jimi Hendrix, with plans for releasing the material in album form.
