About Rich Kern

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. I used to steal my big sister's keyboard as a wee lad and compose, compose, compose my little melodies and then sneak it back. Eventually she caught on and told me it was ok! What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Bob Dylan, Blonde On Blonde Jeff Buckley, Grace (Legacy Edition) The Roots, How I Got Over These album just get me every time, lyrically, musically. They are eternal for me. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Brother” Brother was the first song I performed as a solo artist. I've recorded it both as rock and folk versions. The story of Kane and Abel from Kane's perspective. I first identified with Kane as an Atheist and then later also as a Christian as well. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Our drum circle hosted a glowstick night on the TallShipWindy at Navy Pier. I brought the floor tom from my drumkit to lead the pulse. Racing past the pier and other ships with those mallets thump-thump-thumping. We felt like a gaggle of pirates!! Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? As of 2022 I have started restoring the reel to reel archives of my grandfather Arty King who wrote a song for Jimmy Sundquist. Great Americana stuff never heard before. I'd love to see that go somewhere.
