About Riccardo Doni

Riccardo Doni is an Italian harpsichordist and conductor of the Accademia dell'Annunciata. He attended the Arrigo Boito Conservatory of Music of Parma, where he studied with Lorenzo Ghielmi, and pursued organ and harpsichord at the Schola Cantorum in Basel, where he worked with Jean-Claude Zehnder. He has conducted the Nuova Polifonica Ambrosiana, I Madrigalisti Ambrosiani, I Cameristi della Scala, the Filarmonica della Scala, I Solisti di Pavia, and the Accademia Bizantina. In 1994 he began performing with Il Giardino Armonico in Milan, and became the harpsichordist of the period instruments ensemble Imaginarium in 2002. He collaborated with violinist Giuliano Carmignola on the 2017 album Un Italia a Londra on Musica Viva, and recorded Melancholia with baritone Andrea Mastroni, released in 2018 on the same label. Doni teaches at the music conservatories in Milan and Ferrara. ~ Blair Sanderson
