About Rhys

A Swedish-American pop singer and songwriter with a soulful, brooding style, Rhys Clarstedt Frank is better known as simply Rhys. Born in Portland, Oregon to an American father and Swedish mother, Frank moved from the U.S. to Sweden with her family at the age of ten. She caught the performance bug later, after visiting her sister's godmother, a musician with a small studio in Austin, Texas. They recorded Rhys singing. When she returned to Sweden, she started training with a vocal coach, who later introduced her to hit songwriter Jörgen Elofsson (Kelly Clarkson, Britney Spears). Rhys recorded a demo for him, he was taken by her voice, and they co-wrote what became her first official single, the ballad "Swallow Your Pride." It was released by Warner Music Sweden in 2016. Her second single, 2017's "Last Dance" charted at number 51 in Sweden, and the more musically upbeat "Too Good to Be True" reached number 43 later the same year. In 2018, she followed with more yearning material, including "Maybe I Will Learn" and "No Vacancy." ~ Marcy Donelson
