About Retief Burger

Retief Burger's prominence in Afrikaans praise & worship is an impressive feat, considering the Namibian-born composer had little interest in becoming a nationally renowned singer. In the early 2000s, Burger was content with serving God by writing music for a student ministry located in the city of Potchefstroom. But after prodding from fellow songwriter Louis Brittz, Burger entered the recording industry in 2005 in hopes of sharing his faith with larger audiences. He’s released a slew of albums of contemporary praise & worship that’s rich in rock and pop influences. Along the way, Burger has racked up his fair share of hits and anthems, including “Alles Vir My,” “U’s My God,” and an atmospheric version of Kari Jobe’s “The Blessing” (“Die Seën” in Afrikaans) that features Namibian artist Riana Nel. Despite his success in performing, Burger continues to answer his calling. In addition to authoring several books and producing ministerial podcasts, he serves as a senior pastor at Pretoria’s Every Nation Church.
