Experimental jazz trio Pulled by Magnets craft hypnotic, otherworldly soundscapes to explore the deeper side of the genre. The band was formed by prolific jazz drummer Seb Rochford after the dissolution of Polar Bear, with PB bandmate Pete Wareham on saxophone and bassist Neil Charles (Zed-U, Empirical). Rochford did some soul searching before settling on the darker sound of Pulled by Magnets, heading to the Old Church in Stoke Newington to record the results. The band's debut album, 2020's Rose Golden Doorways, was recorded through live takes with minimal studio meddling to capture the ambience of the church setting. ~ Liam Martin
