About Point Blank

Essentially from the same mould as Texan blues boogie supremos ZZ Top, Point Blanks first two releases were produced by Bill Ham, who had also masterminded the latter bands rise to fame. Point Blanks line-up has been somewhat fluid, but in the main it featured John ODaniel (vocals), Rusty Burns (guitar), Kim Davis (guitar), Bill Randolph (bass), Mike Hamilton (keyboards) and Buzzy Gren (drums). Their third venture into the recording studio resulted in Airplay, which saw a slightly less intensive boogie stance, but this was rectified on The Hard Way, a part-live release that saw the band in blistering form. Bobby Keith replaced John ODaniel in 1981 and their last two albums reflected a more radio-friendly approach to their sound, but without commercial success.
