About Plants and Animals
Quebec-based trio Plants and Animals paint with an unusually wide musical palette, deriving influence from folk-rock, progressive rock, power pop, chamber music, indie-rock, and several other styles. Consequently, the band’s sound is often wide-reaching and cinematic in scope, with lead singer Warren C. Spicer’s vocals framed with everything from gently finger-picked acoustic guitars to near cacophonous kitchen-sink-style orchestration. The band’s 2008 debut PARC AVENUE garnered comparisons to everyone from the Polyphonic Spree to the Arcade Fire.
