In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. I remember hearing the intro chords to “Don’t Dream It’s Over” by Crowded House and being overtaken by a feeling of melancholy. Even though I was around 6 or 7 years old I was amazed at the emotional effect of something as simple as a C sus chord. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Frank Zappa, The Mothers of Invention, One Size Fits All Praxis, Transmutation (Mutatis Mutandis) Seal, Seal [1991] As different as these albums are from each other they all share a restlessness and refusal to be pigeonholed by one musical style, instead smashing different genres together in a way that still makes sense as a whole. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Playing the Royal Albert Hall with Zappa Plays Zappa Playing the Adult Swim Fest in 2019 for the return of Dethklok Playing with Chick Corea at the Greek Theater when we opened for Return to Forever. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I’ve been very lucky to play some major venues while backing up other artists, but I’ve always been envious of my friends in bands who only play their own music. It’s time to get my own music out there!
