Pastor Clinton McFarland
About Pastor Clinton McFarland
Clinton McFarland's passionate contemporary gospel music draws on church choir tradition, classic urban contemporary, and up-to-date R&B, much in the vein of Kirk Franklin, with whom he has performed. McFarland released his solo debut, Wake Up, in 1997. Recording on occasion during the 2000s, he published an inspirational book about divorce in the 2011 before returning to music with the Billboard-charting Trusting God in 2019.
Born in Mississippi in 1967, McFarland sang and played piano in his father's church from an early age. He became a church leader himself at 22 and spent the next 18 years pastoring in his home state. During that time, he issued his first album, 1997's Wake Up, via Intersound. Wonderful followed on Veracity Music in 2003, and he was featured on Aires of Joy's album God Is in Control in 2008. In 2011, Xenon Press published his self-help book Life After Divorce.
In 2014, McFarland became Senior Pastor of the newly established Grace Baptist Church in metropolitan Atlanta. He eventually returned to the recording studio, emerging with Trusting God, which was released by Grace Way Music in late 2018. It debuted at number 11 on Billboard's Top Gospel Albums chart early the following year.
