Thanks in part to a cosign from XXXTentacion, rapper Papithbk has reached a massive audience with his emotional songs about heartbreak and betrayal. • A Zimbabwean immigrant who moved to Australia in his youth, Papi used music to improve his English. • It didn’t take long for Papi to fall in love with hip-hop. Influenced by XXXTentacion, Drake, and Ski Mask the Slump God, he began flooding his Facebook page with original rhymes. • Though the young rapper’s rookie verses reflected his newness to the trade, he improved over time, drawing in hundreds of thousands of followers. Fans included XXXTentacion, who praised his 2018 track “Love Is a Drug.” • In March 2019, Papi released the seven-song EP EP. The single “Sad Nibba Hours” earned more than 500K streams in its first week. It’s since amassed tens of millions of streams across platforms.
