Nic Hessler

California indie pop singer/songwriter Nic Hessler got his start at the age of 14, releasing sweetly sung, jangly, catchy songs under the name Catwalk. His work caught the ear of YAY! Records, who released three early singles. When Hessler was 18, his project was snapped up by Captured Tracks. After two singles for the label, 2010's "(Please) Don't Break Me" and 2011's "One by Words," the band was getting ready to tour when Hessler was struck with Guillain-Barré Syndrome, an autoimmune disorder that left him partially paralyzed for nearly four years. As he got better, he returned to music and released demos under his own name on a Soundcloud page. Captured Tracks released his debut album, Soft Connections, in 2015. ~ Tim Sendra
