About Neal Casal

Neal Casal was an exceptionally talented singer, songwriter, and guitarist whose passionate music, infused with country, folk, and roots rock influences, earned him the respect of a loyal fan base and many of his musical peers. Casal had an impressive résumé as a sideman, lending his sure hand as a guitarist and fluid soloing to albums and tours from the likes of the Chris Robinson Brotherhood, Ryan Adams and the Cardinals, the Jayhawks, Beachwood Sparks, and Hard Working Americans, among many others. On his own, Casal recorded a dozen studio albums in a career cut short by his untimely death in 2019 -- from 1995's laid-back yet incisive Fade Away Diamond Time and 1998's epic-scale Basement Dreams to 2012's swan song Sweeten the Distance. 2025's No One Above You (The Early Years 1991-1998) is a posthumous collection of rare and unreleased recordings from his formative years as a songwriter.
