About Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats

Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats was formed in 2013 as a Southern soul side-project by their frontman after he’d spent a decade performing mostly as a folk-inspired solo act. ∙ A couple of weeks before the release of their 2015 Gold-selling self-titled debut LP, the band performed “S.O.B.” on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. ∙ Upon its release, Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats became a Top 10 album in the US, Belgium, and Canada, going on to hit No. 1 on Billboard’s Folk Albums chart. ∙ The band’s amped-up 2017 live album, Live at Red Rocks, closes with a joyous cover of Sam Cooke’s “Having a Party” backed by special guests Preservation Hall Jazz Band. ∙ For 2017’s Black Friday Record Store Day, they released a seasonal vinyl 7-inch containing their smoldering takes on the holiday classics “Baby It’s Cold Outside” and “Santa Baby.” ∙ Tearing at the Seams, the band’s 2018 sophomore LP, was produced by Richard Swift (The Black Keys, The Shins) and features the indie-pop band Lucius on “Babe I Know” and “Coolin’ Out.” ∙ After three years of multiple TV-show placements and commercial appearances, their enduring signature hit, “S.O.B.,” was certified Platinum in 2018.
