Essential Albums
- "You can party and still be conscious," says Peetah Morgan of “Perform and Done,” a dancehall-friendly roots reggae scorcher on which he trades lines with deeper-voiced brother Gramps. When siblings harmonize, magic happens. On their self-produced GRAMMY®-winning album, the Morgans’ soulful vocals earn a spot alongside such family bands as the Jacksons and the Wilsons.

About Morgan Heritage
Pulling from generations of talent within one family, Morgan Heritage used multi-layered harmonies to become a dominant force in 21st-century reggae. Comprising a rotating cast of members, all of whom are children of reggae legend Denroy Morgan, the group unloaded their first effort in 1994. Titled Miracle, the album established their ability to produce reggae that was palatable for radio, infusing their music aesthetic with a sheen of R&B. Later songs like “Don’t Haffi Dread” and “Down by the River” embodied their sound while earning critical and commercial success. The group would continue refining their formula as their career unfolded; in 2015, the collective’s Strictly Roots LP won a Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album. As prolific as they are innovative, Morgan Heritage are perhaps the most dominant musical family this side of the Marleys.
