Modey Lemon

Formed in Pittsburgh in the late-1990s by drummer Paul Quattrone (later of !!!) and frontman Phil Boyd (Jason Kirker would eventually join on bass), Modey Lemon were at the center of that city’s heavy-psych, garage-punk-cum-classic-rock revival. After a small, self-titled release in 2002 that reveled in the primordial fuzz of their influences, the band signed to Birdman and released the more melodically evolved THUNDER + LIGHTNING the following year. Over the next half-decade, Modey released two more full-lengths, THE CURIOUS CITY and 2008’s SEASON OF SWEETS, while touring steadily across the United States and Europe.
