About Mivos Quartet

The Mivos Quartet is a leading U.S. new music ensemble, collaborating with composers and performers in a wide range of contemporary music styles. The group enjoys working closely with composers over a period of time to develop new music for string quartet. The Mivos Quartet was established in 2008 in New York. The members as of 2023 were violinists Olivia De Prato and Maya Bennardo, violist Victor Lowrie Tafoya, and cellist Tyler J. Borden. In 2010, the Mivos Quartet made its album debut, issuing a recording of the Quintet for clarinet and strings of Ned Rothenberg with Rothenberg himself on clarinet. The group has also worked with creators of multimedia and improvised music, including jazz vocalist Cécile McLorin Salvant and guitarist-composer Mary Halvorson. In 2023, the Mivos Quartet issued a recording of the string quartets of Steve Reich.
