About Miki Berenyi

Indie music icon Miki Berenyi has pioneered a fusion of gossamer dream pop and hard-edged guitar pop with Lush, Piroshka, and the Miki Berenyi Trio. The airy, catchy melodies Berenyi and Emma Anderson paired with effects-drenched guitars on early EPs such as 1989's Scar and albums like 1992's Spooky set Lush apart from the shoegaze pack; on their final album, 1996's Lovelife, their sharp pop skills took center stage. Following the death of drummer Chris Acland, Berenyi took a long break from music, returning in 2015 for a final Lush tour and EP, 2016's Blind Spot. However, the end of Lush was the beginning of her music career's second act. Berenyi went on to form the dream pop meets post-punk outfit Piroshka (whose albums include 2019's Brickbat) and the Miki Berenyi Trio, whose 2025 debut album, Tripla, updated her signature sound with moody electronics and pointed lyrics.
