About Mikey Powell

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. I remember playing a tambourine in church when I was 3 or 4 years old. I think my Granny was leading the music at the time. I've never really stopped playing in music since. Though hopefully my timing has improved since then What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Elbow, The Seldom Seen Kid Gungor, Ghosts Upon the Earth Sting, Ten Summoner's Tales Sting is just a genius. The first time I heard Seven Days was a turning point in my life. Gungor's early stuff really impacted how I think and write worship music. And I love Guy Garvey's voice and lyric writing. And the way Elbow use layers. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “This Is Our Story” It may not be the best quality of my releases. But it's the first worship song I released, and I love its energy. I still stand by it. Those drum fills. I may have stolen the chord sequence from Luke Leighfield but I had permission. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? My most memorable moment as an artist was leading worship live on the BBC. Wearing odd shoes. It was utterly surreal. But such an incredible opportunity.
