In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. Growing up hearing the music of Ray Charles, B. B. King, The Jazz Crusaders, & Jimmy Smith playing in the house. Being in Vegas, we often had the pleasure of seeing many of the greats perform including Ray Charles and the Jackson Five. SOUL MUSIC! What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Freddie Hubbard, The Best of Freddie Hubbard Lee Morgan, The Complete Live At The Lighthouse Parliament, The Best of Parliament - Give Up the Funk Each of there records exhibits the pure power and energy of black music for me. I came up in the 70's it's all deeply rooted in the culture. Whether it be Pops, Coltrane, Cannonball, Ella, Parliament, Roy Hargrove, or Kendrick, it's all connected. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “The Little Individual” This song came as a dream gift. My wife and I were expecting our first child and this song came to me. When I woke up, I hurried up and wrote it down. The quintet performed it that night on the show. It is still is one of our favorites! U DIGG! What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Recording the first CD "The Messenger"! This was such an important statement for me as a band leader to prove to the band that we could create a product that represented the band well. The CD was self-product and recorded live with no edits. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? PLENTY!!! We are still creating and pursuing national/international tours.
