About Medasin

DJ and producer Medasin has carved a unique place for himself in the chill house world with light-touch, wobbly synth leads and jazzy compositions. • Grant Nelson was raised in the suburbs of Dallas. His life changed when his older brother downloaded beat-making software to the family computer. • He was about 12 when he started to produce music, but he didn’t start using the Medasin moniker until 2015, when he began posting bass-heavy dubstep and trap songs online. • In 2016, he teamed with sax-playing neo-soul artist Masego on The Pink Polo EP. Masego called it “TrapHouseJazz”—it’s smooth grooves pinpoint the birth of Medasin’s signature sound. • The rock band Portugal. The Man tapped Medasin to remix their 2017 smash “Feel it Still.” • Medasin’s 2018 debut album, Irene, chronicles his battle with addiction and depression. It was named after and dedicated to his outpatient program counselor. • His 2020 sophomore album, RIPPLS, features rapper Duckwrth and singer-songwriters Naomi and Cautious Clay, among others.
