Fronted by ex-Underoath vocalist Dallas Taylor, Maylene & the Sons of Disaster is an alternative metal outfit that shares Underoath’s hardcore roots, but also shows a great debt to classic heavy metal and vintage Southern rock. Named after the famous bank robber Maylene “Ma” Barker and her sons, Taylor and crew formed in Birmingham, Alabama, in 2004, and released their self-titled debut on the Christian metal label Mono Vs. Stereo in 2005. Its follow-up, MAYLENE & THE SONS OF DISASTER, VOL. 2, arrived in 2007.
