About Mars Jackson

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. My earliest musical memories would be listening to Slick Rick and Mc Lyte as a kid. Those two artist were my mothers favorite and was played a lot in our household. By the time I was in high school it was Nas, Jay-Z, Kanye West, Pharrell and Outkast. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Kanye West, The College Dropout Kid Cudi, Man On the Moon III: The Chosen Lupe Fiasco, Lupe Fiasco's Food & Liquor These three albums were the soundtrack to my life in college. I would listen to all three to get me through rough times, happy times, and times where I just needed to hear good music to get inspired by. Each album has a special place in my heart. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Simple (feat. Benji.)” I chose Simple feat. Benji. because this song took off organically and very much so is a taste of what Pittsburgh musicians have to offer from an artist and production standpoint. This song also was featured on Queen Sugar on the OWN network . What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? The most memorable moment so far in my career has been the artist I've had the opportunity to open up for. I would say Lupe Fiasco was something special. Not only did I open up for him but I also go to hang out with him after the show as well. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? One thing I haven't done yet in my career is get to tour. I've done a lot of things and that one thing is something I hope to accomplish. I will. I know it.
