About Mandisa
Contemporary Christian singer Mandisa first won national attention in 2006 as a Top 12 finalist on American Idol. ∙ A few months before releasing her own album, Mandisa sang alongside Kirk Franklin on the No. 2 hit “Lose My Soul,” from TobyMac’s 2007 album, Portable Sounds. ∙ Her 2007 Grammy-nominated LP, True Beauty, entered Billboard’s Top Christian Albums chart at No. 1, setting a record for the highest first-week ranking by a female artist’s debut. ∙ As a rising star, Mandisa was invited to duet with CCM legend Michael W. Smith on the seasonal hit “Christmas Day,” from his 2007 holiday LP, It’s a Wonderful Christmas. ∙ Between 2008 and 2010, Mandisa was nominated for three consecutive Female Vocalist of the Year Dove Awards. ∙ At the 2014 Grammys, her gospel-pop LP Overcomer won Best Contemporary Christian Music Album, and its title track was nominated for Best Contemporary Christian Music Song. ∙ After a brief hiatus, she returned to the spotlight with 2017’s Out of the Dark and its Top 10 lead single, “Unfinished.”
