About Malcolm J. Merriweather

Malcolm J. Merriweather is a familiar figure on New York's choral scene, active as conductor of the Dessoff Choirs and the New York Philharmonic Chorus and also as a baritone soloist. He is also a significant educator. As a baritone, Merriweather has been heard as a soloist with the Boston Symphony Orchestra and the New York Choral Society, among others. He has a strong commitment to contemporary music and has premiered works by Eve Beglarian and John Liberatore. Merriweather is artistic director of the 60-voice children's choir Voices of Haiti, based in Port-au-Prince and operated by the Andrea Bocelli Foundation. Merriweather made his featured-artist recording debut as conductor of the Dessoff Choirs on the 2019 recording Margaret Bonds: The Ballad of the Brown King & Selected Songs. He returned in 2023, conducting the Dessoff Choirs on a recording of Bonds' Credo and Simon Bore the Cross.
