Kacey Musgraves' album warms the soul and she finds wonderfully simple ways to explain complex emotions. American Idiot got River into playing music in the first place. We were listening to a lot of old heartland rock: Eagles, Bob Seger, Bruce Springsteen. The song was a departure from our usual sound. And it was so much fun recording because we wanted it to be totally organic.
