About Lisa Tucker

An American singer, songwriter, and actress, Lisa Tucker starred in a Los Angeles production of The Lion King before making her mark in the music business as a contestant on the fifth season of American Idol. After exiting the show as a tenth-place finalist in 2006, Tucker recorded a duet with Dionne Warwick. Recurring television roles followed, including appearances on Zoey 101, The Game, The Vampire Diaries, and The O.C., and in 2020, after a long hiatus from music, she released the country-folk single "Fickle."
Born in Anaheim, California, Tucker made her first stage appearance at the age of nine in a local production of The Little Princess. After singing the National Anthem at an Anaheim Angels baseball game, she landed the role of Young Nala in an L.A. production of The Lion King. She made it to the finals of Star Search at the age of 13, resulting in the release of a holiday LP, Please Come Home for Christmas, and three years later auditioned for Season 5 of American Idol where she wowed the judges with a rendition of Whitney Houston's "One Moment in Time." Finishing in tenth place (the talent-rich season also helped launch the careers of Taylor Hicks, Katharine McPhee, Kellie Pickler, and Chris Daughtry), Tucker performed in the American Idol tour, singing Elton John's "Your Song" and "Someone Saved My Life Tonight." She also appeared on Dionne Warwick's 2006 LP My Friends & Me, duetting with the pop, soul, and R&B icon on the track "Then Came You."
She spent the next several years performing live and working in television, but health issues in her twenties put her musical career on the backburner. After moving to Nashville with her husband and child, Tucker began writing and recording new songs, the first of which, the lovely country-folk ballad "Fickle" was released in July 2020. ~ James Christopher Monger
