Mexican pop star Lidia Avila started out in the youth pop group la Onda Vaselina, a band that earned considerable recognition and garnered Avila all the visibility she could want at such a young age. She later appeared on the telenovela Clap, among others, and eventually released her self-titled debut solo record. Still very much in keeping with her pop sensibilities and reputation, but with elements of her more musically traditional upbringing, the record was followed by Así Como Me Ves in 2005, and Todo Tiene Color in 2007. ~ Evan C.
