About Lenny Williams

Although Lenny Williams' solo career dates back to late '60s, he's still best known for his three years as the lead singer of Tower of Power, one of the top funk/soul bands of the '70s. Williams' time with Tower of Power established him as a big name with major hits like "What Is Hip?," "This Time It's Real," and "So Very Hard to Go." The Bay Area resident's solo career took off with Choosing You (1977) for ABC. Follow-up Spark of Love (1978) became his first gold solo album and boasted the hit "Cause I Love You." After three albums for MCA, Williams sporadically recorded for several independent labels, including his own LenTom Entertainment, and performed regularly. ~ Alex Henderson
