In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. As a young child, I discovered my ability to play instruments by ear while playing around on a tiny lap organ with no more than 25 keys. My improvising started there and has never stopped. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Sometimes I Feel Like a Motherless Child” I love its history and its timbre. This African-American spiritual was composed around 1860 and passed down through generations. It moves back and forth between minor and major and has the rise and fall of a crying spell. It is delightfully haunting. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? So far the most memorable moment is that Peace of Eden Recording Studio came to my house for this project....which allowed me to record my debut album in my home piano studio on my beloved Steinway Boston grand piano (163, Performance Edition II). Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? Yes, I hope for my next album to be all my own compositions. After that I'm planning a second Gentle Melodies album.
