Le Cercle de l'Harmonie

About Le Cercle de l'Harmonie

Formed in 2005 by French conductor and harpsichordist Jérémie Rhorer, Le Cercle de l'Harmonie is a chamber orchestra that specializes in period-style performances on instruments of the 18th and 19th century, following the inspiration of such early music legends as Nikolaus Harnoncourt and Gustav Leonhardt. Frequently appearing at music festivals as guest artists, Rhorer and Le Cercle de l'Harmonie have played in the major concert halls of Europe, and given performances of operas at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, the Opéra Garnier, and the Opéra-Comique in Paris. Prominent among the artists who have recorded with Le Cercle de l'Harmonie is soprano Diana Damrau, who recorded Donna: Opera and Concert Arias by Mozart and Arie di Bravura for Erato. The orchestra has also recorded several Mozart operas for Alpha, including Die Entführung aus dem Serail, La Clemenza di Tito, and Don Giovanni. ~ Blair Sanderson
