The pseudonym of American songwriter and bedroom recordist Rania Woodard, LANNDS specializes in atmospheric indie electronica. Based in Florida by way of Memphis, Woodward grew up singing in church and took up blues guitar in her mid-teens. She tried her hand at writing songs while in high school and started experimenting with synths and recording equipment by her early twenties. With help from Jacksonville-area producer Brian Squillace, she self-released the textured guitar-based single "Still" in the summer of 2016. While it continued to garner some attention in the indie blogosphere and accumulate streams, she uploaded the off-kilter electronics of "Wide Awake." Consistently airy and melancholy in tone, she followed those with the songs "Metanoia" and "Young Years" early in 2017, and soon bundled the four songs as the Wide Awake in a Sleepy World EP.
