La Granja

About La Granja

Formed by singer Guillermo Porcel, bassist Carlos Garau, drummer Miguel Gibert, and guitarist Kiko Riera, later, joined by guitarist Pablo Ochando, Spanish pop/rock act La Granja had the opportunity to make its debut album after coming in first place at Palma de Mallorca Festival in 1986. That album, released by DRO in 1987, was followed by 1988's Soñando En Tres Colores (featuring the band's pop hits "Los Chicos Quieren Diversión" and "Mas De Veinte Años"), 1989's Azúl Electrica Emoción, and 1991's El Efecto Dominó. Performing power pop style based on the early '60s American rock scene, La Granja self-produced Medicina Natural in 1994, while DRO was preparing a compilation of their greatest hits, which was released in 1997 as Los Mejores Productos De La Granja. After local label Slurp! released 1999's Amplifícalo, Zaragoza's Grabaciones En El Mar issued La Granja's El Efecto Dominó in May 2000. ~ Drago Bonacich
